HYDRO & MARINE

CTI has partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and numerous contractors and engineering firms to service the hydro industry’s most demanding jobs. Over the years we have cut and removed thousands of tons of mass concrete to create expansion joints and fish passages, and to complete decommissioning and retrofitting projects.

Demo for Hydro Decommissioning, Rehab & Renewal

CTI’s pioneering experience with wire sawing is a particular asset on hydro projects – not only for our skill in making cuts of limitless size, but for our ability to cut and remove concrete and metal structures that are underwater, or in otherwise hard-to-access areas.

PROJECTS OF NOTE
Mactaquac Dam
New Brunswick, Canada
Performed for New Brunswick Power, NB
Scope: Cut 15mm AAR expansion slots through the dam. The average cut was 100’ deep x 70’ wide, and all work was completed without interruption to regular dam operations

Wanapum Dam
Ephrata, WA
Performed for Grant County P.U.D.
Scope: Created 18’-diameter holes through the dam to allow fish migration.

McNary Dam
Umatilla, OR
Performed for Atkinson Construction
Scope: Cut, rigged and removed 2,100 tons of concrete to enable the installation of a new turbine and generator.

Sherman Island Dam
Glen Falls, NY
Performed for Niagara Mohawk Power
Scope: Selectively demolished the roof arches and buttresses of this circa-1923 dam, leaving the underlying foundation safely intact for renewal and reconstruction.
